I am so spent tonight but I want to get in as much as I can before my trip to South Africa this week! So here is a new fav of mine and yet another BKLYN based band - Yeah!!
In part because I am tired and in part b/c I am being lazy, I have no choice but to perform some cut and paste action on the bio of the band straight from their myspace page:
“MEN is a Brooklyn-based band and art/performance collective that focuses on the energy of live performance and radical potential of dance music. MEN speaks to issues such as wartime economies, sexual compromise, and demanding liberties through lyrical content and an exciting stage show. The group began in 2007 as the DJ/production/remix team of LE TIGRE members JD Samson and Johanna Fateman. When the duo began to write new songs, it made sense to merge their efforts with JD’s other new project HIRSUTE. JD and Hirsute members Michael O’Neill (Princess, Ladybug Transistor) and Ginger Brooks Takahashi (LTTR, The Ballet) now comprise the core of MEN, with Johanna and artist Emily Roysdon contributing as writers, consultants, and producers.” - MEN myspace page.
Check out their fabulous song “Off Our Backs” below! Not sure when their music will be out but keep them on your radar and as soon as I know album deets I will let you know!
Oh and P.S. - Is that phallic looking drawing on their myspace page what I think it is - or do I just have a dirty mind? Thoughts?

Yet another Brooklyn based band guys and yes they too happen to be insanely good - love em! You DEFINITELY heard this song featured before on one of the iPod commercials. Well here is the video for “Bruises” off the band’s album “Does You Inspire You” released in April of this year. Enjoy the video below!
Those of you may think by the name alone that Miike Snow is a solo artist - but not so much.
This is actually a three person band, two of which have written and produced for artists such as Madonna, Kylie Minogue and even snatched a Grammy for their work on Britney Spears’ Toxic. The third member has worked with the likes of Mark Ronson. So all in all their resumes are pretty impressive, but what about their music? Well that ain’t too shabby either!
Their album is a bit of a departure from the pop sound they have worked on for other artists. Their own album is a bit more alternative but is really great! Their debut self entitled album dropped in May of this year and is up on iTunes! You can check one of the songs I like below- “Animal”. Although another favorite of mine is “Sylvia” which is amazing and you should ch-ch-check it out on their myspace page!!!!

Here is another Kanye West Mixtape available as a Free Download. Lots of recycled tracks on here but some new ones also. I think it is really cool that he gives these tracks out for free - he doesn’t need to do so at this point in his career so it’s a nice gesture to his fans!
Anyway check out the tracklisting below and click here for the Free Download of this mixtape! Oh and for those who don’t have a program to open rar files you can click here and get a free download trial version of such a program - I just did it and it worked! One of my fav up and coming artists is on here - I will do a post on him soon! Enjoy!!=)

I am really into this duo group from Paris and Helsinki called The Dø named after the first and last note on the musical scale.
They have some amazing songs on their album “A Mouthful” that was released back in June 2008. They are more or less just starting to get some major traction here in the states but I’m surprised I haven’t heard their material before. None the less their music is AMAZING!!
Take a look at their video for “The Bridge is Broken” below. I also encourage you to visit their page on RCRD LBL here for FREE Downloads of two other amazing songs of theirs “Tammie” and “Playground Hustle”. Enjoy!=)
So for all of my readers who have a Twitter Account - there is no excuse not to get the free mixtape that DJ AM and Travis Barker collaborated on entitled “Fix Your Face - Volume 2 - Coachella -09″.
This mixtape is really good and has something for everyone - whether you are into rock, hip-hop, grunge, R&B, pop or whatever - they cover everything. All songs are mixed by AM with drums provided by Travis Barker. Every song is dope!
Check out one of my fav’s off the mixtape that has a bit of MJ, The White Stripes and Daft Punk….and if you like it there 13 more available as a FREE DOWNLOAD in exchange for a tweet. Visit this site for instructions on how to get the download! Tweet Away!

Just when I thought I was over hip hop or that I couldn’t listen to another cover, remix or sample of MGMT or Kid Cudi, along comes Chiddy Bang.
Chiddy Bang is a hip hop group comprised of four members that happen to be college freshman. Age aside - these guys are producing music that are on the level of industry pros!
They have showcased their ability to flow over samples that you wouldn’t necessarily akin to hip hop including MGMT’s “Kids”. Don’t even get me started on how brilliant their song “Because” is which samples Radiohead’s “Reckoner”. They are taking on material from big name artists that are already hot right now and somehow manage to make them even hotter!
If these guys are putting music like this out as college freshman, I can’t wait to hear what they produce as seniors!
Check out their song “Because” and “Kids” below. If you like what you hear you need to go here and get these songs plus 4 others that Chiddy Bang is giving away as FREE DOWNLOADS! As always show their myspace page some love as well.

This is an amazing video / mini film from Lady Gaga! This is on the level of MJ’s Thriller! It speaks great volumes about fame and the media in today’s society. Some of you may have seen this already as it came out a few days ago - but I had to post this. Anyway like I said before - AMAZING! Check it below!
